Intro to Sound is a one-day, beginner-friendly training session hosted by Five Acre Co at the KCC, designed for anyone curious about how live sound works. Whether you’re brand new, supporting events for an organization, or looking to build confidence with sound systems, this session offers a practical introduction to the fundamentals of live audio.

Led by Andrew Taylor, Technical Operations Director at Five Acre Co, the training is hands-on and rooted in real-world experience rather than classroom theory. Participants will learn about sound systems, signal flow, EQ fundamentals, mixing concepts, and both digital and analogue operations.

The session takes place on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The KCC (4090 Hollywood St., Port Alberni) and is available both in person and virtually. Coffee is provided, and lunch is included for in-person attendees.

This session is open to the public and offered on a sliding scale of $25–$60. It’s an ideal first step for anyone who has ever wanted to understand what’s happening behind the scenes of live events or explore a path into event production.
